Our goals

Tweed objective

The overarching objective of TWEED is training the next generation of excellent researchers, equipped with a full set of technical and complementary skills, to develop high-impact careers in wind energy digitalisation. This goal will be achieved through a unique training program combining hands-on research training, interactive schools and hackathons, innovation management and placements with non-academic partner organizations.

TWEED includes the following sub-objectives

1

Develop data-based wind farm models, resource assessments and structural design models using more realistic probabilistic design tools than current physics-based models, decreasing uncertainties and investment costs.

2

Study and determine data-enhanced intelligent wind farm control strategies and management methods that improve value and mitigate impacts on the environment.

3

Optimise O&M strategies to minimise operational costs & increase asset lifetimes through probabilistic methods, data driven machine learning and digital twins, for diagnostics and prognostics.

4

Develop a Virtual Wind Farm Hub that promotes FAIR data-sharing principles and enables testing of prototype services from the other individual research projects, seeking drastic cost of- energy reductions.
